Thermocouples with a precious metal protection tube and a built-in wire element

Thermocouple assemblies with a precious metal protective tube (08-TMP) are often applied in the Glass(wool) industry. The maximum temperature is partly determined, aside from the type of thermocouple, by the material of the protection tube.

The protection tube often consists out of Platinum-Rhodium alloys. In order to meet the extreme environment conditions, only high grade materials are used in production. We produce standard thermocouples with protection tubes made out of PtRh(DPH/ODS) or ceramic protection tubes with a deposited Pt layer, as well as special thermocouple compositions like triple profile thermocouples and bubble tubes for aeration of the glass melting process.

Technical specifications

A large selection of various dimensions and platinum alloys are available from stock in order to ensure fast delivery times. Aside from alloying with other metals such as iridium and rhodium, we offer dispersion-hardened protection tubes and platinum coated ceramic pipes.

Thermocouples are available as required, in single, double or triple element version.

Also, we can deliver bubbler pipes or glass level probes in various versions according to customer specifications.

Thermoelectric voltages and tolerances are pursuant to DIN EN 60584, class 1 for thermocouple types S and R, class 2 for thermocouple type B.
